Evernote

I really wish had a Linux client. I’m starting to store a lot of stuff in Evernote, but working from the website is sort of a drag. They really should have a Linux client!

Friday WTF – Sunday edition

Yeah, I know I promised a new WTF entry every Friday, but I’m lazy and not a bit creative.

So here is a guy with no balls in the literal sense, but monster cajones in the figurative.

Just watching this makes me sore.

Epic party!

It was a total blow-out! Lots of friends arrived that we haven’t seen in a long time. Lauren was the special guest, but others arrived from points far and wide. We all had a great time, ate and drank a ton. So much so that the recycling bucket is full again!

Today I’m spending the day on the recliner. Staying very still and quiet. I’m telling myself it’s a recovery day.

1st attempt at ‘Cross – USGP Cyclocross – Mercer County Park

Just a quickie RR for a quickie race. Up a ‘o-dear-god-it’s-early’ o’clock, drove down to the park. Registered then rode around a bit to try and get warm. Didn’t have any tights, so wore my sweatpants and sweatshirt. Bad idea. Met up with Brian and Jim. 30 min delay. Rode part of the course. Bad idea. Got to the starting line, stood around freezing. Bad idea. Started thinking “WTF am I doing here” Bad idea. Gun goes off, and so do I. Get to the first turn and think “this should be interesting, in the Chinese sense”. Spend the next 35 minutes trying to stay upgright, trying to remember all the stuff I learned from the Cyclocross DVD, mount, dismount and keep moving forward, all while my HR is pinned at redline.

Hit the end of the second lap, just as the leaders are passing me. That ends my race. 38ish min, avg HR 161.

Get to the car, get cleaned up, grab a nasty-ass hotdog from the roach coach, and find a place to shoot some pictures:And also took some video:

Yep Kurt…
Cross Rulz!

Off Season – Kenpo-X

Today’s serving of humility was from the Kenpo-X DVD. While I had plenty of aerobic capacity, trying most of the combination moves was an exercise in futility. I quickly determined that I’m an uncoordinated boob.

I have to keep reminding myself I felt this way when I took “aerobics” classes back in the day. I had the hardest time with the simplest steps. I couldn’t even do a descent grapevine. But slowly over time I was able to master the moves well enough to keep from embarrassing myself. I suppose the same holds true for the Kenpo-X routine.

I did enjoy the routine because the time went by really quickly, and it was a great aerobic workout. Once again I’m pretty sore from the two workouts this week. I think that tomorrow is a rest/stretch day in the program. I may opt for a run followed by the stretch routine.

Natirar Park

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Weazer and I took Gripper to the park. Weazer brought along the camera and got some great shots.

You can see the estate house in a couple of the pictures. The building is going to be used as “The Club at Natirar”. Currently the house and outbuildings are closed and off limits to the public. However, thanks to the web, we can view some earlier shots:

Hardenbergh Database

One thing I recently learned is that the original entrance to the estate was at the Far Hills train station.  That is at least two miles away from the present location, indicating how expansive the estate once was.
