USATF amends headphone rule: – News

USATF now leaves the decision to allow headphones up to the race director. I wonder if USAT will have a similar rule change.

If they do amend the rule, there will be significant safety concerns about the bike segment. If they choose to let participants use headphones on the run, enforcement will be difficult for the bike.

Alternative Training Methods..

I’ve got no numbers to back me up, but the P90X program seems to be working for me:

I had planned to do a 1:00-1:15 treadmill run today.  Instead, I spent 2.25 hours  clearing my driveway of ice.

The driveway is 85′ by 12-18′ and I had to use 6″ wide flat cutting shovel to break the ice, and then a standard snow shovel to clear the debris.

I approached the chore as a set of intervals:  Break up the ice through a section, (high-HR, low duration) pick up the debris (lower HR, core, back & arm work, longer duration).

Came back inside totally drenched in sweat, muscles twitching, with spasms of nausea.

In a word, Spent.

I still hate winter…

Post from the Madd SkillZ division…

I love fast cars.
Ok, thats not exactly right.

I love owning and driving fast cars.  I’ve never owned a truly fast car but have driven some of the cars I’ve owned as fast as possible in controlled environments.

And I’m still really freakin slow, but I have fun doing it.

Here is a bit o’vid from someone who can drive really fast, and compensate for the inevitable “oops” that comes from the need for speed:

Damn…  I mean Daaaeeeeyyuuuummmmm…

Two words: TERM LIMITS

Why you can’t trust ANYONE who wants to run for public office, in the current political enviornment:

Charles Schumer: “We are not going to be a bunch of crazy, anti-business liberals,” one executive said, summarizing Mr. Schumer’s remarks. “We are going to be effective, moderate advocates for sound economic policies, good responsible stewards you can trust.”

Umm, yeah.. Where the hell have your and your political partners been for all these years? You were elected to the US Senate in 1998 and stood idly by and did NOTHING to prevent the total rape of the American ethic, economy and way of life.

If you cannot do what you promised in your 1st 8 years, what makes you think that giving you more time will help me, more than it will profit you?

Puhhleeeze…
