A good week

23 miles running, with some fartleks and hill work tossed in, plus three P90X workouts (Chest/Back, Plyo, Arms). Next week I’ll be stepping up to big-boy work: 31 miles running w/more fartleks and more hills, 5 P90Xworkouts (Chest/Back, Plyo, Arms, Kenpo, Back/Legs). I’m anticipating a very sore and tired Greg this time next week.

I’m also hoping that my shock/fork will come back from Push Industries soon. Conditions were excellent this week for winter MTB. I don’t want to pass up more great opportunities for off-road, off-season riding.

School started back up yesterday. Two management classes this semester. Leadership in Technical Teams, and Strategic Planning. Both instructors are very engaging and are leaders in their field, the texts look pretty good and our classes are now split up into two smaller groups. Our team was adjusted a bit. There are three original team members and one new Spring 2010 student joined our group. So now we have two women and two men in our group, and appears to be a solid group.

I’m a bit behind on the pictures, but I’m still trying to grab them and upload here.

On Tuesday I decided to drive in over my bike commute route with the specific intent that I would get some better opportunities for pictures.  As I crested the I-78 overpass the sunlight had just lit up the entire western valley with this spectacular early morning light.  However, by the time I got the car safely parked and jogged back to the overpass, the moment had passed.  On my way back to the car I did capture the eastern sky, but it’s not as spectacular as the western view just moments before:

Eastern winter sunrise

So I think that the thought that goes with this post is to always be open to wondrous sights, events and opportunities.  They will roll on past as sure as the sun rises.

1 Picture A Day

..which is starting out to be two pictures a day.

During my 5mile run in the cold-cold air this morning, I got to thinking how much I’d rather be riding my MTB.  Then I remembered that the Ibis is missing its boingy-boingy Mojo, front & rear due to a routine visit to the orthopod:

Mojo Sadness

When I got home I forgot all about my MTB dreams today, until I thawed out (thanks to Weazer’s 3-Alarm Chili!).  So when I went down to snap a shot of the forlon Ibis, I found enlightenment from my cat, Jaco:

The Reclining JacoHe was napping on the top step because the basement door was closed and he was temporarily locked downstairs.  Not long enough to complain, but just enough time for a quick nap.

Which lead me to the thought for the day.  Be at peace with where you are.  If you are running in the cold, embrace the moment.  when the MTB is working, ride the bike, and whenever possible, nap no matter what!

New Home Office.

We planned on using this space for a home office since we bought the house 12 years ago.  I finally broke down and bought the furniture then spent three days assembling and moving into the room.  Today we completed “phase 1″ when we got the new lights.  It’s a huge improvement over the cubby-hole that I was using previously.

Big bonus!  The morning light coming into the windows is really spectacular!

NYE Leftovers

NYE Leftovers

One of my new years resolutions is to capture one picture a day and post it online.  This is an efficient resolution because it dovetails with another resolution to post more original content here on the knob.  So for your viewing pleasure, here is day one.

We got some snow early on NYE putting our party at risk, but the snow ended early and we ended up with a good turnout and a great party.  These are some remnants of the party poppers on the front porch.
